I am a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, gaining election in 1988.  I am a Registered Valuer and have carried out valuations of property whilst working for a number of local, regional and national organisations since 1985.


During this period, I have undertaken valuations of residential and commercial property and land throughout Dorset and in parts of Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Devon, and have worked on occasions in Southampton and Salisbury.  I regularly provide valuations and associated advice and negotiations in accordance with the procedures set down in the RICS practice statement and guidance notes titled “Surveyors Acting as Expert Witnesses”, as well as the Civil Procedure Rules and Family Proceeding Rules, and I can supply a sample of my standard terms and conditions of engagement, should you wish to see them. 


In 2011, I qualified with the Legal Experience Training Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence (LETAPAEWE) accredited by Edexcel at a level 7 (Masters level) BTEC and approved by the RICS.  In September 2013 and February 2014, I completed follow-up training courses on Expert Witness Meetings and ‘Hot-tubbing’.


 In recent years, I have been involved in providing expert advice in connection with a wide range of property types and scenarios, including:-


  • Numerous Single Joint Expert reports on residential properties in connection with matrimonial or other disputes or negligence claims.
  • Expert report for a matrimonial settlement on commercial/industrial buildings in Pimperne, near Blandford Forum, Dorset.
  • An expert witness report on licensed premises in New Milton, Hampshire, comprising public bar, restaurant and letting rooms.
  • An expert report on office and industrial premises in Wareham, in connection with a matrimonial settlement.
  • Numerous valuations of commercial premises of various types, including shops, offices, industrial properties and development sites.
  • Valuation of an industrial yard and buildings in a Dorset village, as single joint expert, in connection with a matrimonial dispute.  The buildings were extensive and were partly let as an investment, partly owner-occupied.  The freehold site also included agricultural land.
  • Valuation of land and buildings, as expert witness, pursuant to a boundary dispute.
  • Valuations of hotels, guesthouses and restaurants in Bournemouth, Weymouth, the New Forest and surrounding areas.
  • An expert report in relation to a valuation carried out by another surveyor on industrial premises in the Weymouth/Portland district.  In this case, the previous surveyor was being accused of negligence in the preparation of his original valuation report to a bank for secured lending purposes.
  • A valuation of kennels, pursuant to a matrimonial settlement.
  • Valuations of a development plot affected by an unusual restrictive covenant, in proceedings for negligence.
